Lately, B-town celebs have been advocating drinking ghee (clarified butter) coffee or "bullet coffee" in the morning. While ghee is recommended under Ayurveda as a therapeutic agent, combining it with caffeine provides a steady release of energy, according to experts. A cup of ghee coffee can boost productivity, improve focus, and give a sense of satiety, to reduce your overall calorie consumption during the day.

Ayurvedic aromatherapy is becoming popular of late, given its positive impact on sleep, and mental and emotional well-being. This healing technique involves the use of essential oils, either in skincare products or in a diffuser. A few drops of lavender oil, for instance, can have a calming effect while rosemary is known to be good for coping with headaches, owing to its anti-inflammatory properties.

To maintain good oral health, a simple Ayurveda routine is oil pulling. Swish a tablespoon of edible oil (like coconut or sesame) in your mouth for a few minutes on an empty stomach and then spit it out, followed by warm water rinse. Researchers say this can cure or control various systemic diseases such as headaches and chronic ailments like asthma and diabetes.

Have elders in your family ever advised you to not sleep with your head facing north? It is said to draw energy out of the body and disturb blood circulation. Ayurveda recommends sleeping with the head facing south or southeast, especially for those who tend to be anxious. Sleeping towards the east (considered a direction of positive waves) is said to particularly benefit students as it enhances memory and concentration.

Self-love is crucial for overall well-being and in Ayurveda, it can be practised through abhyanga, for a feeling of stability and for coping with stress. Self-abhyanga is about a 15-min practice of full body massage involving rhythmic strokes that increase circulation, eliminate impurities from the body, and improve skin as well as stamina.
